Following the recent news that new signing Nayef Aguerd has been sidelined due to a head injury sustained in the 4-0 match against FC Lorient this weekend, the club has now confirmed another significant absence. Marseille will also be without new recruit Hamed Junior Traoré, who is suffering from a thigh injury.
Traoré, an Ivorian international who joined this summer on a €7 million deal with a contract reportedly extending until 2030, was an unused substitute during OM`s recent Ligue 1 fixture against Lorient, where Timothy Weah was deployed on the attacking left flank.
With Aguerd`s position expected to be filled by Leonardo Balerdi, Traoré`s absence further opens the door for Timothy Weah to secure another start. Alternatively, there`s a slight chance that new Brazilian signing Igor Paixao, who made his debut off the bench against Lorient last Friday, could be given a starting opportunity.
