Barcelona have been joined in the hunt for a leading summer transfer target by La Liga rivals Atlético Madrid.
This comes amid the understanding that the Rojiblancos have joined the growing list of clubs expressing a keen interest in the signing of Jorge Salinas.
Salinas is for his part fresh off a stellar campaign on the books of Racing Santander.
En route to the Racinguistas topping the La Liga 2 table to secure promotion back to the Spanish top-flight, the 19-year-old emerged as one of the club’s star performers.
Across 32 league appearances, Salinas racked up a head-turning seven assists from his berth at left-back.
Such exploits are understood to have caught the eye of a number of top-flight clubs, not least the aforementioned Barcelona.
But also ready to throw their hat in the ring for Salinas, as alluded to above, are one of Barca’s leading rivals. As per a report from Spanish outlet Diario AS, Atlético Madrid are keen to bring in two left-sided defensive reinforcements this summer.
Alongside Bayer Leverkusen’s Alejandro Grimaldo, Diego Simeone and co. have therefore set their sights firmly on Racing Santander’s crown jewel.
